I wish the Ram So engine would have 500lbs torque to equal the EcoBoost. Also, ability to run 87 octane with that amount of torque. And be available in the upper trims. I wonder if the so engine would be able to put our 520 lbs torque with out the forged rods or needing 91 octane.
In regards to complicated engines. In my head, the Hurricane is more complicated than the Hemi. The Hurricane is much simpler than the Ford ecoboost and Toyota 3.4 engine in the Tundra. Those engines double everything except cylinders. (Yes, I exaggerated) but not too much.
One thing to consider about the long wait times are that you could order one before they started making the 25's and they had a supplier that caused them to court to get figured out.
The Hurricane chief engineer said the engine will handle 87 but will need to retard the spark to keep it from knocking. He also said that this will hurt fuel economy a lot because the engine was designed for peak efficiency with 91. Power will be down too. I would think the ecu will record this...
I've read many times in this forum and others that this 3.0L, a small engine putting out that much hp can't last. I'm sure people would have said the same thing back in the 90's about the dodge 5.9L magnum engine if Dodge would increased power from 230hp in the 5.9L to 395hp and/or 470hp like...
I don't understand the logic of not offering the standard output in the limited and tungsten. I would think that many would prefer this option. Especially for those that don't tow, don't need that much acceleration or want the increased fuel economy. It would also be beneficial to Stelantis...
It's rumored that the Hemi had issues with idling causing the lifters to fail due to sufficient lubrication at idle. I would hope the Hurricane will be better
I know it sounds crazy but think, a Hurricane engine with all the heavy duty components of the HO engine but derated to 430 hp and 470 ft/lbs. This would match the Ford Godzilla 7.3. This would simplify Rams engine production. I can't wait for the feedback. LOL.
I actually hope for the cummins...
I was thinking about the down hill issues with the Hurricane and how many brake applications you had to do. ZF makes a great transmission but Stelantis programming engineers need help. Not down shifting to the needed gear is sad. They should have know that having half the displacement would...
