Hey all,
Love my 3.6L most of the time, but it's been really struggling going up the interstate mountains, to the point where I'm getting frustrated. I don't feel like an empty-bed V6 truck should be downshifting from 8th to 5th gear just to get enough torque to maintain 70 mph on a Kentucky...
After the TSB update on my V6 I have come to really like it. I average 21-22 mpg, it gets up and goes when it needs to, and it's an overall smooth ride. It also seems to drive smoother under load, and towing with it has been no problem.
Most of my Ram friends have the 5.7 and they are all in...
Is there a website that lists TSB and other updates for these trucks? My transmission was acting up and when I brought it in they informed me that there was a transmission update - I had no clue and was never informed.
Hey Ddobey,
Just my two cents, but in my experience (I have the 8.4 inch), Android Auto and Car Play are more annoying than helpful. I'd recommend just getting a wizgear magenetic phone mount and putting it up just above and to the left of your screen. I use that method even with the bigger...
Hey Mike, sorry to hear about your luck - I can say after driving it the last few days that some of the fix may have been "placebo". It still does jolt/stutter/shift hard every once in a while - so I definitely think there are some issues with the eTorque/3.6 combo. I've driven several of the...
Update:
I brought it in to the dealer and there was a transmission update. After running the update I'd say the hard shifting, stuttering, etc has been reduced about 75%. Now I only notice it when the engine is cold (for the first 5-10 minutes), which is still annoying, but better.
Would there...
Hey all,
Has anyone had luck with an Airaid Throttle body spacer on their 3.6? Airaid claims better torque in the 800-3000 rpm range, and I've seen several 4th gen 3.6 owners say they actually work.
I can't find any spacers for the 3.6 but I have found one for the 5.7. Second question, would...
Hopefully someone can help me here - My local ram dealership has mechanics that are far from the best, so I want to try and be educated before I take it to a dealership further away.
I'm at ~24,000 miles on my 2019 ram 3.6L and it runs and drives great, except when I first fire it up.
When the...
Was it the super 40 delta flow? I checked on their website and it says it's not compatible with the 2019 ram 1500 but I think it might just not be updated

So a couple guys in my Army unit have the 5.7 hemi, and they have a very similar drive to me (same terrain, weather, etc). They average 14.5 and 15.5. I'm hanging steady at 21.5. So for the driving conditions I'm in it is a much bigger difference than 2 mpg. Results may vary.
The amount of people that actually use 89 octane is somewhat irrelevant, as it's the octane level that the truck recommends. The actual cost difference will vary person to person, but the calculations are using actual mileage (Fuelly), EPA estimates, and both 87 and 89 (recommended) fuel to give...
Good point! I will add that shortly.
EDIT: That changes the savings to somewhere between $48-63/month, which is a bit more substantial. That helps offset the resale difference if you sell your truck before 100k/200k
I went for the V6 because I wanted a full-size truck but since I also use it as my daily driver and the bed is empty 90% of the time I just couldn't justify a Hemi. With the Pedal Commander my V6 has plenty of power and I consistently get 21-23 MPG combined. I just don't think I could keep a...
Do Ridgeline's even count as trucks?
I don't disagree with you. The Hemi is typically rated in "smiles per gallon" anyway, so most people just eat the cost and go about their day. For me, I needed a truck that could do truck stuff when I needed it to, but could also double as a daily...
Definitely good points. I think the 3.6 makes more sense the longer you keep the truck. At 200,000 miles you aren't going to get much from selling your truck either way to be honest, so for THIS scenario I consider it a non-issue. If you are only keeping your truck 3-5 years than the fuel...
