Ram Warranty at Cost NOW through June 30th, 2024!

I bought one of these for my son's 2022 EcoDiesel. He's got ~48,000 miles on it. It threw a CEL. I pulled codes and...there were a bunch. A lot of body codes, two powertrain. Between the powertrain warranty and the aftermarket one I bought from Granger...no charge for anything. @Granger, Thanks!

    Odometer stopped working

It's your trucks attempt to stay forever young. Ish. Congrats on that! Seriously...speaks to your skills to have ANY vehicle last that long. And, of course, the basic design and build has a large measure of credit, too.

My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I drove it onto 4 ramps. I did not use a laser level. I did not use a digital level. I did not use my Stabila levels. It's a truck. It's oil. It sits in a pan. Level just means nothing weird, not a precise 0.00^ to an infinite plane in both directions. As long as there's sufficient fluid to...

My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The ZF recommendation: I've seen a wide variety of mileage. That makes sense, since this transmission is the basis for so many different installs and is used across such a wide spectrum of use cases. 60,000 seems to be good mark. I have a bias (unscientific) that my vehicles like early fluid...

My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Thanks. If I'd put the Viton O-ring onto the PPE drain plug, I'd be done. Instead, I've got a leaking PPE O-ring (<-maybe THAT'S why they don't ship gaskets with the pan???) that I need to replace. If I ever do another PPE pan swap...I'll put that replacement O-ring on, first. My thoughts on...

What did you do to your Ram today???

I swapped in a PPE transmission pan. See my thread: My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

My PPE review: The pan is a definite upgrade to the OEM. It holds more, it has cooling capability (aluminum with fins) and will make future filter swaps MUCH less expensive. A filter costs $30, a drain O-ring is $6, and a gasket (from KLM) is $27.50. Fluid cost would be the same (okay, add a...

My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Refilling a ZF8... This is not rocket science. Step 1: Fill until it dribbles from drain port. 2: Loosely install fill plug. 3: Start vehicle. Run through reverse, 1st, 2nd, and then 2,000 rpm. Hold each for 5-10 seconds. (Some vehicles say the wheels should rotate. Shrug.) 4: With engine...

My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Pan swap The ZF8 drain and fill (obviously needed, and desired, for a pan swap) is not too complex despite what you read. The main issue is a tight temperature range to start and finish the fluid fill. The goal is to keep it between 30C and 50C (<- from memory, don't base YOUR drain and fill on...

My PPE transmission pan: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Folks, Here's my experience installing an aftermarket transmission pan for my truck's ZF8HP75 transmission. I'll run you through what I did, as I did it, so you can make your own decision. It'll be a bit long, but I want to be thorough. The ZF8 transmission has a pan with a built-in filter. If...

How to Get the Best Price on Your New Ram

Another happy purchaser from Mark Dodge here. Bought my 2021 from another dealer...who was able to go below MD's price, but that individual was soon thereafter separated from that dealership. Guess I got the "out the door" special! ;) ) Bought my son's 2022 from MD. Based on my previous...

Don't forget to change those cabin filters guys....just did and WHOA!

Yeah. I had that once. Simple solution: drizzle some cooking oil over your cabin air intake. (Mesh screen under the passenger windshield washer.) Turn the heat FULL UP. <- That's important. Bring some salt and just wait. The popping may startle you, but don't let it distract you. Catch the...

Don't forget to change those cabin filters guys....just did and WHOA!

I change mine annually, just after tree pollen season (NC piedmont). There is an appreciable increase in airflow with a new filter installed.

    LASFIT LED’s

I tried that with my son's Tradesman. I ended up with 5 codes: B16D7; B16DF; B16AF; B16B3; B16B7. Those were for rear brakes, rear turn, and backup lights. So, no bueno in my experience. I sent emails back and forth with lasfit, and even bought new replacements (my pocket), and still no good.

    Oil Change Intervals

EcoDiesel here, so that's makes mine a bit different. I change at 5,000 miles (pennzoil euro full synthetic 5w-40). Always do oil and fuel filter as well. Is that needed? I don't know. But I have never had an internal engine failure in millions of miles of ownership. And, the engines I've torn...

My GDE Tune: 4.75 stars out of 5.00 (okay, 4.9)

Several months ago I took the plunge. I ordered a tune from Green Diesel Engineering, Diesel Tuning for Performance and Fuel economy (See my sig: driving a 2021 Ram EcoDiesel.) I checked all the boxes. In just two days (North Carolina), it all arrived: a new ECU, my original ECU (that I had...
